Obituary

Our Mother, Billie Louise Montgomery, quietly slipped away from us on June 1, at the age of 95. Her passing was due to congestive heat failure and a broken heart brought on by the passing of her grandson Travis.

Mom was born on May 31, 1926 in Dinkeyville which was part of Bingham Canyon, Utah. Her parents were William Butt and Faun (Thompson) Butt. At age one her family moved to Compton, California.

Her early years were joyfully spent playing outdoors with her younger sister, Dorothy. She attended Enterprise High School where she excelled in math, was an honor student, and a cheerleader. She had her dream date to the prom on the arm of Duke Snyder (who later became a Brooklyn Dodger All of Famer). But Duke was not the one who stole her heart. At the age of eighteen she was introduce to Gordon (Clark) Montgomery. They were married soon after and enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage. They had two children, Thomas Gordon and Sandra Jean. Over the years mom and dad lived in Utah, California, Oregon and Arizona.

When we children were grown, she began a lifelong career with Sears Roebuck and Company. She especially enjoyed working in customer service. She was a hard worker many times named employee of the month.

Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mom was a meticulous homemaker. Her home was always neat and welcoming to anyone. She was an accomplished cook and always had meals ready on time for dad and us kids. Mom was a talented seamstress. Her sewing skills were always perfection. Growing up she made all of Sandy's clothes as well as her own. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing counted cross-stitch.

Mom has two surviving children, Tom (Vicki) Naches, Washington, and Sandy (David Prince) Highland, Utah. She has five living grandchildren; Carrie Sucher (Marc) Provo, Utah, Erin Burney (Landon) Apache Junction, Arizona, Veronica Kisby (Brian) Fishers, Indiana, David M. Prince (Karem) Las Vegas, Nevada and Amanda Brown (Paul) Lakeside, Arizona. She also has two deceased grandsons, Todd Montgomery (Dana) and Travis Montgomery. In addition, mom is survived by twenty great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Billie Montgomery's life will be held with a graveside service at the Annabella Town Cemetery, Annabella, Utah on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Friends and Family are all welcome to attend.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at River Meadows Senior Living in Alpine, Utah for the many of kind acts of service given to our mom over the past ten years.
