Obituary

Dennis Dean Wintch, 71, of Elk Ridge, Utah, succumbed to cancer in the comfort of his own home
surrounded by his family on April 2, 2019.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon, daughters Tiffany (Rhett) Riding, Megan (Andy)
Nielson, sons Shane (Jonna) Wintch, Wesley (Natalie) Wintch, Eric (Alissa) Wintch, Scott (Julie) Wintch,
sisters Valerie (Don) Grimmer, Paula (LeRoy) Hughes, Sharon Pollock, and many caring grandchildren,
great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and extended family. Dennis was an adoring husband, loving
father, kind and generous man, and true friend.

Dennis was born in Tropic, Utah to parents Dean and Erma Wintch. He grew up in the heart of southern
Utah and spent his youth hiking, hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He was an exceptional athlete
excelling in basketball, baseball, and track. Dennis truly felt at home in nature and spent many days
hiking the hills around his home and working by his father’s side. A true sportsman, Dennis enjoyed
spending time with family and friends fishing and hunting, but mule deer hunting was his real passion.
He was always willing to share his knowledge with anybody and help others succeed in getting that big
muley.

Dennis was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in
the Dakotas teaching the gospel to the native American people. His love for them would last throughout
his life and he could often be found talking about his native American friends and would later serve a
second mission with his wife on the Navajo reservation. Never shy about sharing his faith, he had a way
of taking any conversation and bringing in a gospel perspective.

Dennis married the love of his life, Sharon Peterson, in the Manti, Utah temple and together raised six
children. He worked hard to provide for his family the necessities of life. To him, his greatest
accomplishment is his family. He cherished taking his children and grandchildren fishing, hiking, and
teaching them about the gospel or life lessons, often using object lessons and nature to explain a
principle. His adventurous spirit, generous heart, and wise guidance will truly be missed by all who
knew him.

Memorial services will be on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Elk Ridge LDS Chapel at 295 E Alpine Dr. in Elk Ridge,
UT. Viewing will begin at 9:00, followed directly by services at 11:00. The burial will follow soon after
at Salem City Cemetery. Condolences can be offered at www.legacyfunerals.com.

Just a note about Dennis and our long term friendship. I met Dennis through Morris Ercanbrack in about 1975. We bought carpet from him for our new home and from then on he did most of my families carpet as well as many of our farm homes. In fact we got to the point where I would just call him and tell him what I wanted and where it needed to be done and he would just take care of it. He was always upbeat and I felt that he was a true friend not just someone who we bought carpet from. He would ask about my family and remembered them from our long friendship. We would swap stories and he always had a great one to tell. I'm saddened by his passing but I have the sure knowledge that he is still telling stories on the other side and working hard at whatever he is asked to do. He will be missed!
All the best for your family! Robert McMullin

Dennis is such a great guy, I have had the pleasure of working with my friend for many years. Denise was always so happy I and was just really fun to be around. I loved to listen to his stories and view of life. He once told me that we should take care of our friends like we take care of our teeth, we need to brush them more than once in a while so they will be there we need them. I think about that often and try to remember to do so. I will miss dear Dennis.

Dennis is one of the great ones. He will be sorely missed by so many. Although we have not seen in years, we are so grateful for the prints he and your lovely family have left on our hearts. Your influence and the friendship of Dennis for Rob was and integral part of our early family development. The kindness shown to us will never be forgotten. The lessons learned and the examples shown will always be a part of our lives. We are so fortunate to have had Dennis and all of you in our lives.
Since we spend so much time in the outdoors still, we think and talk of our experiences that we shared and learned from.
Please know that our heart and prayers are with you at this incredibly difficult time. We mourn with you and pray that you will feel the love and comfort of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Love you! (((Hugs)))❤️

So sorry to hear about my cousin Denny. We grew up together in our little Town of Tropic but after we left we sort of lost touch with each other. Way too young to leave his Family. My thoughts and prayers are with Wife and Children and his Sisters. Love to All.
