Obituary

Jerry Don James met his Redeemer at his appointed time early Monday morning, May 17, 2021, as he slipped peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jerry was born on October 30, 1943 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Jewel Thomas and Nora Aleen James.

Jerry is survived by his sweet wife, Carla , and his four children and grand children.

Jerry was faithful to the end. Loving his wife as Christ loved the church, serving the Lord willingly and a faithful encourager to all who knew him.

Well done dear brother, we’ll see you in Glory someday soon!

In lieu of flowers, Carla has requested contributions be designated to Faith Baptist Church Memo: Summer Missions Trip - Lighthouse Baptist Press.

Jerry and Carla desired to help in the purchase of one roll of paper which costs $950, for the printing of over 12,000 international gospel booklets. Your gifts will impact eternity.

Bill and I are sad to hear of Jerry’s passing. He always had a smile for everyone and showed his love for our Savior in many ways. We have fond memories of his children as well. They were a blessing and fine example of their Christian upbringing. We are grateful to have known him.

I met Jerry in the early years of Faith Baptist Church in Spanish Fork, Utah. He and his family began attending so they could help Beabea and me with the new infant church. He has been my friend for many many years. We have sat in restaurants and hamburger joints and discussed the Lord of our salvation. Jerry always had good advice spoken in a humble way. Jerry and Carla have served me dinner many times as I traveled through the area in various ministries. Jerry's children will always hold a special place in my heart. They were a major part of our youth group at Faith Baptist and traveled with Beabea and me on youth ministry activities. I will miss Jerry, but I am rejoicing that he is enjoying Jesus face to face. I think about that. Five minutes after entering Heaven, Jerry understood more about God and eternity than any of us in a life time of study. My love and prayers to his family!

My condolences to Uncle Jerry's wife, his children and grandchildren. He was such a kind man and I am forever grateful of the handyman repairs help he did for my Mother's home. Uncle Jerry stayed with our family one summer when we lived in Colorado. I was a teenager and loved to bake. My favorite cake was a chocolate mayonnaise cake. One afternoon I was careless and added too much mayonnaise to the recipe, I served it without realizing my mistake. It tasted terrible. For many years afterwards, Uncle Jerry would ask me "hey have you made anymore mayonnaise cakes" and laugh. Rest in Peace, Love Carla Ottesen (Box)

My special memory of Uncle Jerry is when he brought his family from Rexburg, Idaho to Washington state to perform my wedding ceremony. That was 43 years ago and my husband, John and I still feel blessed. Uncle Jerry will always hold a special place in my heart. Lori Box Gayman

Our hearts go out to Uncle Jerry’s children, Eric, Rachel, Nathan, Rose and their families and Jerry’s wife, Carla. Uncle Jerry had the kindest heart and was always there for our mom, Lucille. Uncle Jerry was the greatest baby brother to our mom, Jewel Lucille, our Aunt Thelma and our Uncle Clarence. We know he will be missed by all of them. Carla, Mike & Lori (Box)

Scott and I wish to express our love to the James’ kids: Eric, Rachel, Nathan, and Rosie. We are so sad that you’ve lost both your parents in a very short time. Jerry and Gail were great friends of ours. Praying for comfort and peace.
